Home

Welcome to ChrisGlobe.co.uk. This is, as you may have guessed, the online home of Chris Globe, an amateur photographer, website administrator and general technophile from Stalybridge, a small town just outside Manchester, UK.

This website is my little corner of the internet, so you’ll see lots of different things appearing on here. I am purposely not showing the latest posts here, on the homepage, as not everything may interest you. Click on the categories in the menu above to see more information.

I would like to point out at this point that all views on this website are my own, and any opinions I make public should not be taken as fact. Everything on this website is mine, unless otherwise credited.

I’m not the sort of person that chooses one look and sticks with it, I constantly change, improve, tweak and generally fiddle with this website. If you’re wondering what version I’m up to, it’s around version 11. I shall apologise now if you’re re-reading this because the look of the site has changed

I’m a website administrator, most of my day is sat front of a computer ensuring a regional website with over 1500 members continues to function and is up-to-date. However, I also do rather a lot of other tasks, including publishing, photo and video editing and responding to technical enquiries.

A normal day could see my using any of the following software;

  • Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari or Microsoft Internet Explorer
  • Microsoft Access 2007/2010, Excel 2003/2007/2010, Outlook 2007/2010, PowerPoint 2007/2010 or Word 2003/2007/2010
  • Adobe Dreamweaver CS4/CS5, InDesign CS5, Photoshop CS5 or Premiere Pro CS5

In my spare time I enjoy taking photographs and reading, I also have a dedicated server that hosts a multitude of websites and programs such as Teamspeak.

At home have a custom-made PC with an Intel Core i5-2500k, overclocked to 4.6GHz, EVGA GTX 560Ti 1GB overclocked and 16GB RAM, as well as an Acer 5742 laptop with Intel Core i5-450m and 4GB RAM. Both run x64 versions of Microsoft Windows 7. When mobile, I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, running Android 4.0.2

Finally, I have a Nikon D90 digital-SLR with Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro.
